W dzisiejszych wioskach (nie mylić z tzw. „sypialniami”!) nadal panuje średniowiecze. Jedyną nowość stanowi wszechobecny pilot telewizyjny, czyli tzw. „okno na świat” i – czasami – kulejący internet. Jeżeli ktoś żyje tam mentalnie w dwudziestym pierwszym wieku, uważany jest za dziwaka. Nieszkodliwego szaleńca, jeżeli nie wysuwa się na pierwszy plan sąsiedzkich spojrzeń, bądź nieprzewidywalnego wariata, gdy nie ukrywa swoich poglądów oraz sposobu życia.
Wychowałam się na wsi. Takiej klasycznej, gdzie psy, wiadomo czym, szczekają. W moim rodzinnym domu zawsze były książki. Na codzienne spacery zabierałam ze sobą aktualnie czytaną powieść i psa. Dla mnie, dorastającej dziewczyny, były to zupełnie normalne, ukochane chwile każdego dnia. Ale nie dla większości okolicznych chłopów.
– „Paninka” tak nie chodzi z tym psem, on tego nie potrzebuje, później mu się szczekać nie będzie chciało na łańcuchu.
– Pies musi wiedzieć gdzie jest jego miejsce, zgłupieje od takiego chodzenia.
Tego typu porady słyszałam wiele razy. Gdy mówiłam, że pies nie ma łańcucha i jest moim przyjacielem, miejscowym brakowało słów. Tak, według tamtejszych standardów byłam dziwakiem (co nie zmienia faktu, że i dzisiaj nim jestem i to według zupełnie innych standardów 🙂 Młoda dziewczyna (która zamiast latać w sobotnie wieczory na imprezy, a w niedzielne popołudnia spacerować oficjalnie i uroczyście z „chłopokim” po biegnącej przez środek wsi jedynej asfaltowej jezdni) chodząca codziennie na spacery z psem i książką, musiała – zdaniem miejscowych – mieć nierówno pod sufitem.
Dlaczego? Po pierwsze, na wsiach chodzi się po krowy albo na pole. Od spacerowania są miastowi, do których wieśniacy pięknie się szczerzą, bo można im sprzedać jaja, mleko, czy inne dobra, a o których, gdy ci są poza zasięgiem ich głosów, mówią jak o zwykłych naiwnych głupkach. Owszem, czasami w niedzielne popołudnie, gdy jest przerwa między serialami, miejscowi wychodzą na łono przyrody. Robią to na ogół w celach poznawczych. Warto wiedzieć, któremu sąsiadowi w tym roku grozi nieurodzaj.
Po drugie, zgodnie z niechlubną tradycją podłego traktowania zwierząt na głębokiej prowincji, pies to przedmiot użytkowy. Z naciskiem na przedmiot. Gdy chłop widząc psa biegającego na podwórku czuje się nieswój. Brak nieodłącznego atrybutu wiejskiego psa, jakim jest łańcuch, razi wieśniaka w oczy niczym promienie słońca w letnie południe. Widok spacerującego na smyczy psa, jest tak absurdalny dla miejscowych, jak branie codziennej kąpieli.
Po trzecie, czytanie książek dla przyjemności, zdaniem wieśniaków, to zwykła strata czasu.
Pewna podsłuchana, przez przypadek (i nadjeziorne echo), rozmowa miejscowych uświadomiła mi to, w jaki sposób podchodzą oni do czytania. Było lato, przechodziłam obok gospodarstwa, które położone było nad rozlewiskiem. Na podwórku stało dwóch mężczyzn.
– Ty, to „una”.
– Znowu z książką.
– Jak będzie tyle czytała, to zgłupieje, mówię ci. Jak (tu padło jakieś nieznane mi nazwisko), też ciągle czytał, aż trafił do czubków.
– No, masz racje..
W oczach tych dwóch, z uwagi na mój nałóg czytania, byłam skazana na szaleństwo. Myślę, że gdyby któryś z nich usiłował przeczytać jakąś powieść, rzeczywiście mogłoby to zakończyć się dla niego tragicznie. Nawet super komputer zawiesi się od nadmiaru danych, a w tym przypadku mówimy o ludziach na ogół mniej rozumnych od swoich zwierząt gospodarskich.
W dzisiejszych czasach wiele mówi się o modernizacji polskich wiosek. Widać wielkie, błyszczące traktory i inne nowoczesne maszyny rolnicze. Jednak mentalność w większości takich miejsc nie podlega żadnym większym zmianom. Nadal króluje tam średniowiecze. Może kiedyś, może za parę pokoleń… Zmiany są nieuchronne i bardzo ich wyczekuję. Chciałabym dożyć takich czasów, gdy nie będzie już tzw. „mentalnych wieśniaków”. To określenie ma duży ładunek pejoratywny, chociaż nie zawsze jest używane właściwie. Mieszkaniec wioski niekoniecznie jest wieśniakiem, a wieśniak nie musi akurat żyć na prowincji. Element demokratyzacji społeczeństwa, jakim stał się pilot od telewizora i internet, niewiele zmienił na polskiej wsi. To, że wieśniak widzi coś więcej niż krowi zadek, czy zagon kukurydzy, wcale nie oznacza zmian. Widzieć, nie znaczy zrozumieć. Mentalny wieśniak zaakceptuje w oglądanym filmie fabularnym psa śpiącego w domu, młodych żyjących razem bez ślubu czy też biegających dla przyjemności ludzi. Czemu nie? To tylko film. Rzeczywistość na jego „podwórku” to już inna bajka. Taka rodem ze średniowiecza 🙂
