Jeszcze przed wojną zawód nauczyciela wiązał się z ogromnym prestiżem i społecznym szacunkiem. Ustrój komunistyczny „zgubił” sporą część autorytetu tej profesji, natomiast czasy współczesne przyniosły jej całkowitą degradację. Dzisiaj nauczyciel traktowany jest – niestety – jak wyrobnik. Czy winny jest tylko przestarzały system? Nie sądzę. Ze studiów (dwie dekady temu) pamiętam koleżanki z roku, które wprost mówiły:
– Będę nauczycielką, bo chcę mieć dużo wolnego czasu dla siebie.
– Będę nauczycielką, bo może i potyram pierwsze dwa , trzy lata w papierach, ale potem będę już lecieć na autopilocie.
Ciekawa jestem, co dzisiaj myślą na temat swojej pracy wyżej wspomniane panie?
Czasy, w których padały tego typu stwierdzenia, były diametralnie różne od dzisiejszych. Zdobycie stanowiska nauczyciela graniczyło z cudem, a gdy ten cud się jednak wydarzał nie miał on wiele wspólnego z kompetencjami stażysty, tylko z tzw. znajomościami. Przypadkowy człowiek posiadał marne szanse na dostanie pracy w szkole. Do dzisiaj na prowincjach funkcjonuje zasada pierwszeństwa tzw. „znajomych królika”. Gdy w wyniku niżu demograficznego, czy też przekształceń szkolnictwa dochodzi do redukcji stanowisk często odpadają wspaniali, pełni zapału i pasji, młodzi ludzie, którzy nie mają tzw. „dojść”. Szkoda, bo w tym zawodzie, tak ważnym dla przyszłości naszego społeczeństwa, powinni zostać najlepsi. Niestety, odnoszę wrażenie, że wciąż są to tylko moje pobożne życzenia. Z czasów mojej edukacji na palcach jednej ręki mogę wyliczyć wspaniałych ludzi, którzy jednocześnie byli moimi nauczycielami. To oni dali mi wiarę w siebie, która pozwoliła przejść pod pręgierzem bezduszności większości kadry pedagogicznej. Do dzisiaj wspominam dwóch cudownych nauczycieli ze szkoły podstawowej – jeden z nich zawsze miał do nas liczne słowa zachęty okraszone życzliwym uśmiechem, drugi cierpliwość oraz wiarę w nas, wiejskich dzieciaków – obydwu z nich cechowała niekwestionowana charyzma, którą my, uczniowie, instynktownie szanowaliśmy i podziwialiśmy. Niestety, większość nauczycieli traktowała nas, jak kłopotliwy bagaż. „Niesienie kaganka oświaty” i pełnienie z oddaniem roli służebnej wobec powierzonych im dzieci zamieniali w jakiś bzdurny koszmarek, czyli przepisywanie przez nas podręczników w czasie, gdy oni przeglądali prasę popijając kawę.
Szkoła średnia to kolejny etap mojej edukacji, w trakcie której przekonałam się, jak bardzo zadufani w sobie potrafią być ludzie, których zwyczajowo nazywaliśmy „profesorami”. Byłam biednym dzieckiem, które nigdy nie pojechało na żadną szkolną wycieczkę. Dla mojej rodziny był to zbyt duży wydatek. Nie miałam z tym nigdy problemu, nauczona, że wstyd to kraść, a nie uczciwie pracować na rodzinę. Niestety, problem miała z tym moja wychowawczyni, która notorycznie wytykała mój „brak” na szerszym forum.
– Oczywiście, Marzena z nami nie pojedzie bo jest biedna i aspołeczna.
Nie wspomnę ile razy pytała, czy w końcu przeniosę się do innej szkoły, bo psuję integralność klasy swoim notorycznym i niestosownym ubóstwem. W końcu uznała mnie za osobę bezczelną, gdyż niezmiennie na tego typu nagabywania odpowiadałam:
–Nie ma takiej możliwości.
Cóż, szkołę przeszłam z wielkim uśmiechem na ustach – być paskudnie traktowanym i szykanowanym to jedno, drugie to dawać satysfakcję podłemu człowiekowi, prawda? Nigdy! Dlaczego nie poskarżyłam się mamie? To proste – wiedziałam, jak wiele kosztuje ją to, że mogę uczyć się w dobrym liceum, więc nie chciałam, by poczuła choć przez chwilę, że „nie daje rady” i mnie zawodzi. Moja mama mnie zawodziła – robiła to wychowawczyni, nauczyciel, który powinien stanowić dla mnie, uczennicy, wsparcie. W liceum spotkałam trzech dobrych ludzi i zrazem porządnych nauczycieli, jestem im wdzięczna za każde dobre słowo, bo dzięki nim nie straciłam wiary w to, że kiedyś i dla mnie nastanie lepszy czas. Dziękuję. Gdy w końcu zaczęłam studia, odetchnęłam. W końcu moja wiedza, umiejętność merytorycznego uzasadnienia własnej opinii przestała być utrapieniem, a stała się docenianą zaletą. Byłam studentką, która dostawała piątki z najtrudniejszych egzaminów – dla mnie była to czysta przyjemność. Gdy zdawałam ostatni egzamin, podsumowujący pięć lat nauki (z Literatury pięknej) wdałam się w długi, konstruktywny spór z egzaminatorem. Swoją opinię rzetelnie i merytorycznie uzasadniłam, jednocześnie bezlitośnie (i z radością) punktując słabe strony wywodu mojego interlokutora.
– To była czysta przyjemność egzaminować panią.
Takimi słowami profesor poprzedził wstawienie piątki do mojego indeksu. Można? Można – o ile nie ma się przerośniętego ego, rzecz jasna.
Był taki czas w moim życiu, gdy musiałam odbyć praktyki nauczycielskie. Standard – przygotowywanie wypasionych scenariuszy lekcji etc. Bardzo miło wspominam tamten czas. W szkole podstawowej dzieciaki były cudowne, pełne energii i bardzo szczere, w średniej spotkałam młodych ludzi bardzo ciekawych świata. Co łączyło te dwie szkoły? Atmosfera pokoju nauczycielskiego, gdzie wiecznie utyskiwano na uczniów i rodziców. Głównym tematem rozmów była jednak inna kwestia – odnosiłam wrażenie, że prawie każdy nauczyciel już od pierwszej przerwy niecierpliwie odliczał czas do końca swoich lekcji. Miło wspominam vice dyrektorkę szkoły podstawowej, uczciwą, przemiłą kobietę, która szczerze powiedziała mi, że ona zdaje sobie sprawę, że należy do uprzywilejowanej grupy społecznej (przypominam – to był czas, gdy bezrobocie szalało na całego).
Czas moich praktyk nauczycielskich to był okres, gdy równocześnie pracowałam w prywatnej firmie. Okres spędzony w szkole wspominam bardzo miło, praca z dziećmi była relaksem, a zrobienie dokumentacji na każdą lekcję – pestką. Nigdy nie zapomnę mojej opiekunki praktyki w szkole średniej – tuż przed rozpoczęciem mojej pierwszej lekcji w klasie szeptem rzuciła mi ostrzeżenie:
– Tylko niech pani nie używa słowa „oralnie”, bo nie zapanujemy nad młodzieżą, oni maja tylko jedne skojarzenia.
Cóż, zaraz na początku lekcji (związanej z przekazem ustnym legend) wytłumaczyłam zaciekawionym, młodym ludziom, znaczenie słowa „oralne”, włącznie z tym obiegowym. Jedyną osobą, która „spaliła buraka” była moja siedząca w ostatniej ławce opiekunka, polonistka z prawie trzydziestoletnim stażem pracy. O dziwo, młodzież nie dostała „małpiego rozumu” od słowa, które miało przecież prawo kojarzyć się im z seksem. Praktyki w szkołach potwierdziły moje przekonanie o tym, że warto być uczciwym, otwartym wobec dzieci i młodzieży.
Dobrych kilka lat później miałam przyjemność zatrudniania i nadzorowania pracy nauczycieli w szkołach dla dorosłych. W tamtych czasach tak często kręciłam głową na znak zdziwienia (łamane na rezygnację), że do dzisiaj mam z tego tytułu silne bóle karku 😉 Nie wiem, ile razy można tłumaczyć nauczycielowi z wieloletnim stażem np. prawidłowy sposób wypełniania dziennika. Owszem, zdarzały się pojedyncze „kumate” egzemplarze – wyjątki potwierdzające bardzo wkurzającą regułę.
Moja przygoda z oświatą nie ma końca. Otóż mam wśród znajomych także nauczycieli. Zgadzam się z nimi, że uczenie dzieci to wielka odpowiedzialność i próba cierpliwości każdego dnia. „Mojej” Kasi dałabym i dwa tysiące, za to, że tak bardzo angażuje się w pracę z dziećmi, tak bardzo przeżywa każde ich nieszczęścia. Jest ona takim nauczycielem, który sprawia, że zaniedbane, zagubione dziecko pierwszy raz w życiu czuje się zauważone, wysłuchane i ważne. To bezcenne, dlatego dla mnie nie ma takich pieniędzy, które godnie wynagrodziłyby tego typu pracę. Inna ze znajomych, mimo wieloletniej pracy i pasji, której jej nie brakowało, musiała odejść z zawodu tylko dlatego, że „znajomy królika” postanowił żyć z nauczania. Przykre i niesprawiedliwie. Tego typu przypadki to wielka strata dla całego szkolnictwa.
Podsumowując moje osobiste doświadczenia z nauczycielami dochodzę do wniosku, że sami nauczyciele psują sobie opinie wśród społeczeństwa. Wzrastałam z przekonaniem, że na szacunek trzeba sobie zasłużyć. Nikomu nie należy on się „z urzędu”. Z trudem słucham, jak kolejny nauczyciel przed kamerami mówi, że strajkuje, żeby godnie żyć i mieć szacunek ludzi. Nie uważam, że nauczyciele są jakimś wyjątkiem i szacunek ot tak im się należy. Czekam na czasy, gdy ludzie ci zrozumieją, że to od nich zależy, jak będzie traktować ich społeczeństwo. Popieram wzrost płac, jednak moim zdaniem powinien on być związany z efektywnością pracy nauczyciela. Jak ją mierzyć? To proste – jednym z mierników powinno być zaangażowaniem uczniów (np. udział w przeróżnych konkursach, nowatorskich projektach). Mierzi mnie narzekanie nauczycieli dotyczące ich dokształcania oraz pracy w domu. Świat się zmienia, pędzi do przodu i większość z tych, którzy są obecnie aktywni na rynku pracy nie może pozwolić sobie na tzw. „spoczęcie na laurach”. Wkurza mnie twierdzenie nauczycieli, że zamiast wakacji woleliby móc wziąć urlop, kiedy im pasuje. W jakiej firmie można wziąć taki urlop?? Ziemia do nauczycieli – mamy dwudziesty pierwszy wiek! Wszyscy zapie…amy ile wlezie, Drodzy Państwo! Oczywiście, rozumiem specyfikę profesji związanej z nauczaniem dzieci – niewątpliwie wiąże się ona z jakością intelektualną przyszłego społeczeństwa. Dlatego właśnie nie ma we mnie zgody na to, żeby każdy nauczyciel dostał taką samą podwyżkę – jedni z nich podcinają skrzydła dzieciom, drudzy – im je dają. Sercem opowiadam się tylko i wyłącznie za sprawiedliwością (równo nie znaczy sprawiedliwie!). Dzisiaj zarobek winien być warunkowany jakością oraz ilością pracy. Rozumiem, że czas Siłaczek już minął. Aspekt godnościowy płacy jest istotny w każdym zawodzie. Świat pędzi do przodu, każdy powinien się do tego dostosować. Nie ma już miejsca na „beton” w oświacie. Nikt mi nie wmówi,że wystarczy podnieść tylko płacę, żeby zniknął chaos, a nauczyciele w magiczny, natychmiastowy sposób odzyskają szacunek społeczeństwa. Bądźmy wobec siebie uczciwi (np. opodatkujmy korepetycje). Jestem przekonana, że szereg niewielkich nawet zmian w perspektywie lat przyniesie nam wszystkim, całemu społeczeństwu, konkretne korzyści. Polaryzacja poglądów dotyczących strajku nauczycieli służy tylko i wyłącznie partiom politycznym. Wspierajmy się, jako ludzie i jako społeczeństwo. To jedyny sposób na to, żeby zniszczyć nienawiść, która z taką łatwością rozpalają w nas populiści ze sceny politycznej. Nauczycielom szczerzę życzę, żeby stali się zdecydowanie bardziej autokrytyczni – również dzięki temu będą lepszymi przewodnikami dla naszych dzieci. Jest takie powiedzenie: „Chcesz zmienić świat – zacznij od siebie”.
